Sita, also known as Janaki, is the daughter of Bhumi (the Goddess of Earth), adopted and raised by the king of Videha, Janaka. Sita is considered to be the incarnation of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. In many cultures, the earth is considered sacred because life blossoms out of it. Earth gives life to nature.
Sita’s ascent from beneath the earth is one of the most prominent moments in the epic Ramayana.
